Entry Form for Woodrow Wilson Teachers and Students

If you are a Woodrow teacher or student, you have a chance to win a Starbucks gift card. The first correct entry for teacher and student will be awarded, as will one other teacher and one student chosen at random after the closing date of November 18th.

All entries will win a small token award, a bumper sticker or keychain.

First QR Literature quest

For the First QR contest at Woodrow Wilson High School, I'm using famous first lines from well-known books and authors. I've selected 5 books and embedded their first line in a QR Code. Here is a Google Doc with the 5 codes.

The students that complete the activity successfully will receive a token prize, while one chosen at random will win a gift card. I'm thinking of using a Google form as a entry form.

If your school uses this activity, please leave a comment.

What is a QR Literature Quest?

The overall purpose of a QR Lit Quest is to encourage high school students to challenge themselves by reading books from College Bound Reading lists.

A QR quest is a high-tech scavenger hunts using QR codes and mobile phones. Students begin the Quest in the library, where they scan a QR code that displays the locations of 5 other QR Codes.

Most phones with a camera can use QR apps, but in many cases it is also necessary to have an Internet plan. This activity does not require one to have Internet access on the phone as all of the QR codes display text messages instead of Web pages.

A librarian or teacher that wishes to set up an activity needs a QR code generator. There are many available on the Internet, including the QR generator I used for this Literature Quest.
